Invention #506  - Anti-Matter Synergistic Wave Matrix Calibrator  (Fantastic Four vs. the X-Men  #1)

We are never told exactly what this device does, but we know its involved in an experiment so critical that Reed doesn’t have time to take a few minutes aside for his son.  Judging by the crate in the background, something was sent to the Fantastic Four by the Avengers.  Quite possibly the Avengers sent something critical over for Reed to study?

wowww … reed, you need an intervention.

What if The Fantastic Four’s Second Child Had Lived is really a fucked up story and I love it. Basically the child is a alien succubus, and she just sucks the life out of everyone around here. Franklin is the only one aware of that, and by the end of the issue…

LOOK AT THIS DAMN THING.

I don’t even care if you just killed all my favourite characters, you’re awesome alien baby

Franklin is a badass, just like his mom

Long story short, this is a fucked up What If. You should read it.

asks:
I'm not an avid Fantastic FOur fan, but I've ben really curious, how old do you think Franklin Richards is? I know they never give him an actual age, but what are your thoughts. Does he age at all? Can he control his age due to his sheer amount of power he has? Let me know what you think?

This … this is a question to which I have given wayyy too much thought in the past.

IMO, Franklin can control his age (or at least … his appearance/maturity relative to everyone else he knows in the Marvel universe), but I doubt it’s intentional. Not yet, anyway.

See, it’s difficult to properly answer the question since the whole Marvel universe is relative in the first place. I mean, the Fantastic Four debuted in 1961 — over fifty years ago — and yet, Johnny’s still under thirty?

WAIT, IS THIS FRANKLIN’S FAULT TOO?!

(I subscribe to the policy of Franklin controlling his age in some way, though it might be his future self saying, “Hey, dial it down a year or so, you need to identify with these people, or do this thing, or something.” Which is why I’m okay with Jonathan Hickman’s Franklin being 10/11, while Fraction’s is 8/9.)

(And honestly, I don’t think Franklin can control any aspect of his power yet because he hasn’t hit puberty, even in Hickman’s run — those shenanigans were just Future Franklin interfering, after all.)

I don’t think I answered the question at all, I think I just tipsily rambled. Sorry, person.

I don’t know what I like the most about this. Franklin basically asking “do you have a minute to talk about god” or Reed making a strechy pun on “i’m all ears”.

Or maybe just that last panel.
